The Creation of Blue Planet Shipping
Founded in 1995 on the island of Chios, Blue Planet Shipping began as a crewing agency dedicated to preserving the island’s proud seafaring tradition.
Expansion & Establishment
As the company grew so did its ambitions. In 1996, Blue Planet Shipping was formally incorporated and expanded beyond crewing services. Evolving into a full-service ship management company, Blue Planet Shipping opened an office in Piraeus to better serve the maritime community. Piraeus is still home to Blue Planet Shipping headquarters today.
Fleet Advancement in the Early 2000s
By the early 2000s, Blue Planet Shipping took a significant step forward by adding Supramax vessels to its managed fleet. This expansion marked an important milestone, allowing the company to operate larger, more complex ships – further strengthening its reputation in the dry bulk sector.
Global Recognition & Commitment to Excellence
Continued growth since then meant Blue Planet Shipping cemented itself as a trusted name not only within Greece, but within the global shipping market. Known for its dedication to quality, reliability and professionalism, Blue Planet Shipping remains committed to delivering high quality ship management and crew welfare.
Sailing into a Sustainable Future
In 2018, Blue Planet Shipping took a bold step toward sustainability, embracing innovative wind-assisted propulsion technology. The company installed Anemoi Rotor Sails on m/v Afros, a pioneering move aimed at reducing fuel consumption and cutting emissions. This investment underscored Blue Planet Shipping’s commitment to environmentally responsible shipping – a vision that continues to drive its operations today.
Preserving Legacy & Steering Toward New Horizons
Guided by a new generation of leadership, Blue Planet Shipping continues to embrace innovation while remaining firmly anchored in its core values of excellence, responsibility, and sustainability.
We pledge to protect the environment and strengthen the communities around us – not with words, but through action. That means building shipping practices that are not only successful, but responsible, sustainable, and built to last.
